This winter, during the fashion week in Paris, Umbert was able to discover the famous French beret present notably at Dior.
He now wonders how men should wear it?
« Fashion is what we wear. What is out of date is what others are wearing. « , Oscar Wilde
Synonymous with French elegance since haute couture, and especially Dior, has put it in the spotlight during a fashion show.
The beret was born in Béarn, in the south-west of France, a long time ago, when shepherds accompanied sheep in the mountains. On the way back, the women of the village made this hat, with the wool of the sheep, to keep warm in the head in winter, and to protect from the sun in summer.
They are still made in Béarn by the Laulhère plant in Oloron-Sainte-Marie. The beret is manufactured 80% by hand. It is made of wool, with a silk lining, making it, therefore, an exceptional product, local and natural.
Anthony Quinn, Alain Delon, and Che Guevara immortalized it.
It can sometimes be a little military, but the choice of models is vast and can adapt to his personality: classic, military, artist or poet.
The length of your hair will also determine the choice of model, color, and how to wear it.
With long hair, leave a few strands of hair on the forehead, neck or sides. You can also pull them back. The beret can then be tilted to the side to give a romantic look.
With short hair, wear the straightest on the head for a tighter look.
Black, red, in summer or winter, be chic, a little impertinent, always irresistible, dare the French beret.
So here is the French beret that returns to the front of the stage for men.
You will be able to buy the French beret everywhere in the south-west of France, especially in the Basque Country.
But also in Paris: Maison Laulhere, 14-16 rue du Faubourg Saint Honore 75008 Paris
What to remember: the French beret protects from cold and heat. Right French product, it can be worn in a chic way, depending on your haircut.
