The next big thing to become irresistible is the French beret (video & podcast)

This winter, during the fashion week in Paris, Umbert was able to discover the famous French beret present notably at Dior.

He now wonders how men should wear it?

Benefits of this coaching :

  • Best methodology to become irresistible
  • An innovative technique to unleash your charisma
  • Learn the new etiquette & manners
  • A better lifestyle

“Fashion is what we wear. What is out of date is what others are wearing. “, Oscar Wilde

« La mode est ce que l’on porte. Ce qui est démodé, c’est ce que portent les autres.”, Oscar Wilde

Synonymous with French elegance since haute couture, and especially Dior, has put it in the spotlight during a fashion show.

The beret was born in Béarn, in the south-west of France, a long time ago, when shepherds accompanied sheep in the mountains. On the way back, the women of the village made this hat, with the wool of the sheep, to keep warm in the head in winter, and to protect from the sun in summer.

They are still made in Béarn by the Laulhère plant in Oloron-Sainte-Marie. The beret is manufactured 80% by hand. It is made of wool, with a silk lining, making it, therefore, an exceptional product, local and natural.

Anthony Quinn, Alain Delon, and Che Guevara immortalized him.

Alain Delon, Anthony Quinn – The next big thing to become irresistible is the French beret

It can sometimes be a little military, but the choice of models is vast and can adapt to his personality: classic, military, artist or poet.

Che Guevara – The next big thing to become irresistible is the French beret

The length of your hair will also determine the choice of model, color, and how to wear it.

With long hair, leave a few strands of hair on the forehead, neck or sides. You can also pull them back. The beret can then be tilted to the side to give a romantic look.

With short hair, wear the straightest on the head for a tighter look.

Black, red, in summer or winter, be chic, a little impertinent, always irresistible, dare the French beret.

So here is the French beret that returns to the front of the stage for men.

You will be able to buy the French beret everywhere in the south-west of France, especially in the Basque Country.

But also in Paris: Maison Laulhere, 14-16 rue du Faubourg Saint Honore 75008 Paris

What to remember: the French beret protects from cold and heat. Right French product, it can be worn in a chic way, depending on your haircut.

To listen to the podcast click here : https://umbert-de-paris.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/EVAiaOoMkSeqhxRyXGuR.mp3

Umbert is invited to a party with his friend Diane in a sumptuous Haussmann apartment in Paris.

Diane friends know the good manners and how to behave.

To present oneself is the first act of interaction with the other guests.

The first impression being the one that counts the most, Umbert reminds you of the basic rules of the New Etiquette and manners.

“Politeness is a mark of respect : nature gives it, education increases it », Louis-Philippe de Ségur, diplomat

“La politesse est une marque de respect : la nature la donne, l’éducation l’augmente”, Louis-Philippe de Ségur, diplomate

In this article :

1) General rules

2) The presentations rules

3) The presentation process

4) Kiss or no kiss

1) General rules to introduce yourself according to the New Etiquette

Immediately giving the best self-image is a difficult art, so Umbert offers you those general advices that are easy to follow anywhere.

  • First you have to stand-up to meet the guests.
  • Keep your arms loosely at your side, ready to shake hands.
  • Smile to give the image of a person at ease, happy to know those that are presented to you.
  • Do maintain eye contact to prove your sincerity and confidence, do not keep your sunglasses if you are outside.
  • Speak clearly to avoid having the caller repeat, especially your name, so never chew gum, or eat while talking.

If you are shy or uncomfortable, have someone introduce you.

If you meet a celebrity, do not stare at her, and take a picture only with her permission, especially if she has a bodyguard !!

2) The presentations rules to introduce yourself according to the New Etiquette

  • Three criteria must be respected : the age, the sex and the social status.
  • The youngest person is presented to the oldest
  • The man to the woman
  • An employee to his employer
  • The least “graded” to the most “graded”

  • The persons to reach out first are :
  • The women
  • The hosts
  • Older people
  • People of high social standing

3) The presentation process to introduce yourself according to the New Etiquette

  • State your name first, then your second name: “Good evening, Umbert De Paris ». Never say : the name first, or Mr Umbert De Paris, or I am Umbert De Paris. Only use Mr or Mrs when you make an appointment, for example, at the hairdresser.
  • You can say « Mr », « Sir », « Mrs » or « Madam » only for an older person.
  • How should the handshake be ? Be careful, it reveals your personality !
  • Too strong : proof of self-confidence, but also of authoritarianism
  • Not strong enough : proof of indifference, of boredom
  • Too long : loving intention or strong affection
  • Strong enough, not too long : this is the proper way to do it
  • If you wear gloves, remove them, but a woman can keep them in the street. The man must propose to the woman to keep them.
  • If you enter a room where there are many people : it is not necessary to shake hands, you must shake the host hand, and smile to all saying a general hello

  • Once the interlocutor knows your name, you can add “How are you? ». Never starts with “How are you?” which is reserved for intimates.
  • You can say “I am delighted to meet you” or” I am delighted to know you “or” I am very happy to meet you “. Never say “delighted” or “I am happy” or “very happy.”
  • If you are introduced to a young boy or girl : “Hello” can be followed by the first name. This formula is warmer.
  • If someone forget to introduce you, do not hesitate to introduce yourself by saying “Good evening, I think we have forgotten to introduce ourselves, my name is (First name and last name) ».

Exemple :

Diane introduces Umbert to her friends.

They first meet Emma in conversation with Charles. Diane says “Umbert, Iet me introduce you to Emma ».

“Emma, may I introduce you to Umbert ?”

Then they meet Charles :  « Charles, this is Umbert ».

Umbert « How are you ? », shaking hands

4) Kiss or no kiss

  • If you want to be introduced to a woman :
  • Bow a little and introduce yourself
  • Wait for the woman to give her hand
  • Do not kiss the people you meet for the first time.
  • Never force someone to kiss you.
  • You can kiss if the person who is introduced to you bends over to kiss you
  • You can kiss a very young child
  • If a person blush while kissing him, act as if you have not noticed anything.

Umbert hopes that you’ve learned some tips to know How to introduce yourself according to the New Etiquette.

Depends on the country, greetings rituals may change, especially in Asia. Follow Umbert on his next adventures and weekends to learn about international New Etiquette advices.

Umbert June Weekend in Paris (Vidéo)

« Paris is the capital of divine temptations », « Paris est la capitale des divines tentations » Zoé Valdés Romancière

Umbert returns from the CANNES festival, the largest film event in the world. The stars, in famous designer dresses, have walked the famous red carpet behind Cate Blanchett president of the jury.

Umbert’s grandparents were on the same steps in March 1954, while Jean Cocteau was president of the jury.

Her grandmother in a long black dress, silver bodice, her grandfather in gala dress and white gloves.

The magic of Cannes is always present, the emotions too …

Umbert shares with you his June Week-end in Paris, and helps you discover the newest and very chic hotels, restaurants, cafés, bars, shops, hairdressers, shows and exhibitions in the City of Lights, as well as his French étiquette advices.

1910, in the heart of Saint-Germain-des-Prés, was inaugurated the hotel Lutetia which offers to Parisian its magnificent facades Art Nouveau. The Lutetia will become the cultural center of the left bank, not to mention the proximity of the first department store “Au Bon Marché”. In 1930, the intellectuals were there : Hemingway, Saint Exupéry, Beckett, they made this place the center of the literature in Paris. 1950 : the jazz years give a new vibe. 2018 : after 4 years of renovation, the magic is still alive, the palace is reborned and Umbert is one of the first guests to stay in its sumptuous rooms. Brunch 14:00-16:00

To escape, during lunch, the agitation of the Boulevard Saint-Germain, Umbert likes the interior courtyard of Ralph’s, where the water fountain murmurs. It is a parenthesis of elegance and refinement. Inside, a cozy atmosphere, an opulent Ralph Lauren decoration, very comfortable, a background of Sinatra music, remember the time of the Oak Room at the Plaza in New York. Umbert recommends lobsters, crab cakes or Saint Germain burger, while tasting selected wines. Ralph’s 173 boulevard Saint Germain 75006 Paris

Etiquette : enter and wait for the butler to place you.

Shops & hairdresser 16:00-19:00

“The cathedral of modern commerce” already wrote Emile Zola about this first store, founded in 1838. Umbert starts a shopping session and discovers the 100% French brands that Parisian loves :

  • Commune de Paris 1871 : a strong identity for this brand dedicated to the new dandy, sophisticated and a little insolent.

  • Balibaris : casual-chic trend, clean design, easy to wear.

  • Isabelle Marant : exclusives for man from the world famous designer for Le Bon Marché.

  • Guerlain : Umbert has his own perfume custom made. An exclusivity at Le Bon Marché : choose your fragrance, the color of the bottle, its size, the color of the engraving, as well as the ribbon. As a gift a travel bottle. Umbert recommends the perfume “Voyou D’Arsène Lupin”.

– Umbert takes advantage of the presence of the polisher to refurbish his « Richelieu ». Only shoe polishers of Paris have the art of maintaining with quality products.

Umbert takes the opportunity to go to the barber and hairdresser La Shaperie . It begins with the “Bullfrog” beard oil treatment, and the “Triumph and Disaster” moisturizer, which is an exceptional product.

Le Bon Marché 24 rue de Sèvres 75007 Paris

Leaving Le Bon Marché Umbert goes towards the shops of Saint Germain-des-Prés, and particularly :

Fusalp : in 1952, the Fusalp brand launched its ski outfits, highlighting the French elegance, with a sleek, slender, yet sporty line. Fusalp will be a partner of the French Olympic Ski Team from 1964 to 1972. The summer 2018 men collection, whose waterproof material has just been created in collaboration with the NASA, goes from light jackets to polos, and stays in the tradition of casual-chic style. She selects products from France south west with care. Umbert loves the oysters, the Kristal caviar, the southwest foie gras, the Landes asparagus and the lobsters from Britany. The exhibition not to be missed, thanks to its originality. It’s a revolution ! Can a robot create a piece of art ? What is the place of artificial intelligence in the artistic creation? An interactive tour and thoughts on “Robotic art”. Artists create algorithms and robots, which themselves create the work that is released. The work becomes a spectacle always varied and different, and the artificial intelligence interacts with the environment where the work is created. The exhibition shows us that the human body and its intelligence are already obsolete. Artists & Robots, Le Grand Palais 3 rue du Général Eisenhower 75008 Paris

Etiquette : to call the staff, say "sir" without speaking too loudly, and without making big gestures.

He then goes outside to the Royale street to visit the Madeleine Church where he can admire the work that began in 1763 and lasted 85 years … because of the political changes. Inside, he admires the monumental organs.

Then he stops at number 3 of the Place de la Madeleine, where the chocolate artist Patrick Roger does amazing chocolate sculptures ! Surprising ! He will bring back a gourmet gift to his friends. Patrick Roger 3 Place de La Madeleine 75008 Paris
