How to resist the pleasure of having lunch on the terrace of the authentic La Marine café-restaurant facing the Canal Saint-Martin. Umbert loves this old Parisian bistro, the animation of the walkers along the canal and sometimes a passing boat. White asparagus, a filet of beef and gratin dauphinoise, a tart Tropezienne, the choice of Umbert is delicious and authentic.

Etiquette: How to eat asparagus? With the fork and the knife. We start with the tip of the asparagus and finish at the end. If the end is too hard, place it on the edge of the plate.

Umbert picks a gift for Agathe ‘s birthday at Make my Lemonade, a concept store full of ideas.vThe notebook decorated with flowers and vegetables is feminine and will appeal to Agathe.

A brand that has become classic for chic and minimalist clothes but that gives a refined look. Umbert chooses from Sandro. Umbert chooses at Sandro jogging pants with stripes on the side, to wear in town or at the seaside. Wear it alone or with a striped shirt for a new look, very personal but so Parisian!

The designer of the brand Agnes b mixes the classic style with flowers and stripes. She loves androgynous clothes, in which men and women parade together. Umbert and his friends spend an evening out. They start with the restaurant, continue to the cocktail bar, and end at the cabaret. Everything is in the same place at Manko, in an ultra-chic decor. The world-famous Peruvian chef Gaston Acurio blends Peruvian cuisine with cuisines from around the world: Japan, China, Africa, and Europe. A trip around the world and much fun are assured.

Etiquette: If you invite a friend, pick her up at her place or the hotel. You are a true gentleman.
- Cocktail 11 pm until late
The trip continues in Peru. The Inca people founded by “Manco Càpac” have a rich history, and the cocktails tell it. Umbert’s friends choose the Pisco Sour Manko, the Indian Colada, and the Bon Baiser du Pérou.

Etiquette: If the cocktail is served with a straw, use it for drinking and especially do not make noise when finishing.
- Show 23 pm until 4 am
On Friday and Saturday, Manko Cabaret presents a wild, provocative show with no gender artists and very festive DJs. Umbert and his friends spend an unforgettable evening.
Budget: the show without a table: 50 euros. Tables of 5 people maximum with prestigious wines: from 550 euros.
Etiquette: If a show does not please you, wait to leave the intermission or the end. The actors are proud to play for you and in front of you.
- Coffee & Croissants 10 am
Umbert is having the best breakfast on the balcony of his room. Then one day a week, the hotel organizes 1 hour of jogging from 7:30 am to 8:30 am to discover Paris in the morning with fairy light. Umbert tries to do it. If it’s too late, it goes to the hotel spa which is highly appreciated by the international clientele for decor and care.
Budget: 62 euros for breakfast.
Etiquette: having a proper outfit when the staff is bringing breakfast to your room is essential. The bathrobe of the hotel will be perfect.
- Exhibition Noon
Fifty years ago, on the 2àth of July 1969, an American astronaut Neil Armstrong is the first man to walk on the moon. He pronounces the famous phrase: “That’s one step for a man, one giant leap for mankind.”
The exhibition “The Moon” transports Umbert in a timeless journey, in a scientific and artistic universe. On an unforgettable air of Pink Floyd, the eternal star carries him beyond the real world.

Etiquette: Saying hello to the warders is a mark of politeness and respect. Visitors do not do it often, so they appreciate even more.
- Brunch 2 pm
Umbert crosses the gardens of the Palais Royal for lunch on the terrace at the Palais Royal Restaurant. A new alley bears the names of writers Colette and Cocteau. Umbert and his friend Agathe discover the 18 benches engraved with a quote. Then they take a break under the arcades along the famous Palais-Royal whose history recalls the splendor and decadence of past centuries.
Richelieu built the Palais-Royal completed in 1636. Then a theater was created, it became a place of prostitution, where the police can not intervene. In 1782 is built a circus and it will serve as a gathering place for the Revolution. What destiny!

Etiquette: a meal at the restaurant involves choosing the wine but also the water that is essential to enjoy the dishes. Ask your guests if they prefer plain or sparkling water, natural mineral water or spring water.

- City tour 4 pm
Umbert walks to the Place de la Concorde to find the driver of the Retro Tour sidecar, with whom he will discover the chosen neighborhood. This is a new and original vision of Paris. Retro Tour offers several formulas according to your desires, for 1 or 2 persons.

Etiquette: to take a photo with the driver of the sidecar, you have to ask him first. You can send him the pic by email and thank him; it’s a souvenir for him.
- Dinner 7 pm
In a surprising setting, Umbert and his friend Camille dine before the show at the Marigny restaurant, in the same building as the theater.
Etiquette: the towel should be unfolded and placed on the knees before the start of the meal.
- Show 8 pm
Guys and Dolls, created in 1950 on Broadway, arrives for the first time in France. Umbert is a big fan of musicals. He is delighted to discover two very different worlds, one of the mobsters, then the members of Save-a-Soul in New York and a stupid bet. The show is in English.
Budget: gold square, 89 euros.
Etiquette: it is essential to tip the employees of private theaters; 5 euros is satisfactory.
- Cocktail 11 pm until late
This very Parisian cocktail bar has a surprising mix of the 1970s and Aztec statues. Other surprises: a jacuzzi under the stairs, or the possibility of buying pajamas to continue the party! Kitsch and chic spirit for an amazing and explosive place. Umbert and his friends will sleep late in the morning, a habit in Paris.
Etiquette: In this place where the party is at its maximum, do not forget to respect the others and the area.
- Brunch 11 am
In a natural setting, a beautiful terrace to enjoy the sun and a full brunch. Umbert begins a pleasant day at the restaurant, Le Pré. The croissants and the pain au chocolat are wonderful. A cocktail is proposed, either a Prosecco Mimosa or a Bloody Mary.
Budget: 23,50 euros e brunch, and 6,50 euros for the cocktail.
Etiquette: in France, you can dip the croissants in the coffee. However, it is not chic.
- Exhibition 1 pm
Umbert reads “The Snow Citadel” by Matthieu Ricard because he studies Buddhism. He will discover at La Hune bookstore the exhibition of the photographs of Matthieu Ricard, a Buddhist monk who has lived in the Himalayas for 50 years. Some twenty photos show the life of the people, Tibetan monks, and magnificent landscapes. The photos are for sale from 3000 euros; the sums are donated to the Matthieu Ricard foundation for education, health and the environment of the Asian populations.
Budget: free admission.
Etiquette: can we judge a photo? A photo is a message sent by the author. It is better to say “it seems” or, “I think” but never express too personal criticism.

- High tea 4 pm
Comfortably seated on the terrace of the hotel Le Peninsula Paris, Umbert enjoys the perfect moment of the Tea-Time with Camille who wants to discover the Oolang Almond tea. Umbert who is a gourmet, appreciate Scones and Clotted Cream, Tiramisu in a shell and especially the Paris-Brest.
Budget: tea-time without champagne: 55 euros; with champagne: 75 euros.
Etiquette: pastries are served with a knife and a fork. Fruit pies are eaten with a dessert spoon, chocolate mousse with a teaspoon, yogurt with an egg spoon.
The cool stuff
Do you dream of being the boat captain? Yes? Umbert offers an unforgettable experience. With Marin d’Eau Douce, you drive a 100/100 electric boat on the Paris canals without a license. No noise, total respect for the environment, and the discovery of the Canal de la Villette, the Canal Saint-Martin and the Ourcq Canal. You can choose the duration: 1 hour or more. Umbert advises 2 hours, with aperitif and picnic. This is so much fun!
Budget: 2 hours from 70 to 90 euros.
Etiquette: being careful is not ridiculous when you do not know the rules of navigation well. You must listen to the advice given before leaving and apply them.
The concert option
Saturday, June 1st and Sunday, June 2nd, 2019, the music festival We Love Green takes place at the Bois de Vincennes.
Fifty concerts on four stages.
