For 40 years, Montreal, Canada, has lived for ten days at the rhythm of the biggest Jazz Festival in the world. This year again, Umbert, who is passionate about jazz, attends the 43rd festival. Eight hundred concerts around the city, an electric atmosphere. Umbert loves Norah Jones, but also Bryan Adams.
Umbert returns to Paris to share unforgettable moments.

Umbert takes the Air France flight from Montreal to Paris. He loves flying 1st class with Air France, one of the chicest companies in the world. On board, excellent service and French dishes from the best French chefs.
Etiquette: if you have a problem, you can call the flight crew, but be careful, it must be justified.
After this long flight, Umbert appreciates the calm and comfort of Hotel Saint-Marc, in of the 18th-century mansion. The garden, pool, and spa are a haven of peace near the Opera Garnier, Louvre, and shops.

Etiquette: at the end of your stay, you can leave an envelope on the night table with 10 or 20 euros depending on the length of the visit, to thank the floor staff.
- Brunch 2 pm
The Nemours is a Parisian institution between the Louvre and the Palais-Royal. There you will find comedians and the world of fashion. Umbert enjoys the sun while having lunch on the terrace next to the Comédie Française. He enjoys rillettes, a quiche Lorraine and a Tarte Tatin, which are traditional French specialties.
Budget: the rillettes: 9 euros, the quiche: 14 euros, Tarte Tatin: 8 euros.
Etiquette: use the knife to take the rillettes in the pot, then spread them on bread. The knife should never be put in the mouth.
- Shopping 3 pm
Umbert’s mom loves the Hermès Birkin bag created in 1984. It is a symbol of elegance. However, it becomes an accessory of masculine style since the autumn/winter Fashion Week 2019, worn by a mannequin in white leather pants. Hermes also makes a revolution!
Budget: 10,000 euros depending on the model.
The red soles of Christian Louboutin shoes are synonymous with quality and elegance. Umbert thinks of autumn and chooses the timeless and perfect model “Greggo” for the city.

The brand opens a second store in Paris. Umbert is looking for sneakers or a new French designer; the choice is vast. The shop is also dedicated to perfumes made with the Liquide brand. Umbert test these new products.
We were in 1980, the slogan “It’s a Vuarnet day, today” is known worldwide.
Mick Jagger and his 02, Alain Delon and the 06, Daniel Craig with the Glacier model in the film “Specter,” are fans of Vuarnet glasses. Umbert chooses for this summer the model Ice 1811 and Camille the model Vintage 02.

Umbert has a gourmet rendez-vous at the Maille boutique. Since 1747, Maille offers mustards that highlight the flavors of French cuisine. Umbert advise the truffle mustard to accompany red or white meats. It’s also an excellent idea for a gift.

A trip to Marrakech, a reflection of your personality, the perfume Ambre Sultan Serge Lutens is all that, and Umbert finds in the scents the magic of the East.

Etiquette: to perfume yourself is an art; neither too much nor not enough. Do not hesitate to ask the manager of the store for details, to respect your personality, and put the quantity according to the time of the day.
- Hairdresser 6 pm
Umbert wants to change his haircut for the summer. He wants a very natural cut adapted to his style. He found the Des Garçons team, located in a superb Haussmanian apartment.
Budget: cut: 100 euros.
Etiquette: It is better for a man to have his hair cut 2 or 3 days before an event.

Umbert has reserved a table for dinner with his friends on the trendiest rooftop of the summer. Au Top, in the Marais district, a breathtaking view of the roofs of Paris is waiting for you. On the menu grilled dishes over a wood fire of Mediterranean cuisine. A real luxury in Paris. Umbert advises the roasted artichokes and shares a rib of beef with Pierre. Etiquette: an artichoke is eaten with the fingers. You have to start with the outer leaves, dip them in the sauce and then place them the plate provided. The heart is eaten with a fork and a knife.

In the month of July, Umbert enjoys drinking a cocktail while enjoying the warmth of the night.
Perruche, is a massive rooftop in the heart of Paris, with an incredible view, in a chic and trendy decor. It is a must in the summer. Umbert recommends tasting the Piña Colada. Check the amazing view on the picture!

There are two options.
Umbert offers a visit to the Versailles Palace, an essential place of French culture. The month of July is ideal to discover the rooms and gardens.
Option 1: sleep in Versailles and return on day 3 to Paris.
Option 2: leave Paris in the morning and return at the end of the day.
After breakfast at the Hotel Saint-Marc, it’s time to head the Waldorf Astoria Trianon Palace Hotel, 1boulevard de la Reine 78000 Versailles.
There is 25 km between the two, and it takes between 45 and 60 minutes — order a cab with G7.
Umbert loves places full of history and charm. He chooses to spend a royal stay at the Waldorf Astoria Trianon Palace Hotel next to the Palace of Versailles. Since May 1, 1910, date of the opening, kings, celebrities like Marcel Proust, Santos-Dumont, John Rockefeller, Paul Getty, or Marlene Dietrich, stay in this historic place. Gordon Ramsey is an international star of cooking. Umbert dines in the idyllic setting of its restaurant: La Véranda by Gordon Ramsay, in the hotel Waldorf Astoria. He chooses the Parisian salmon, the bream with Espelette pepper and broccoli, and the Coconut with exotic sorbet.
Budget: entry: 29 euros, dish: 43 euros, dessert: 16 euros.

- Cocktail 11 pm until late
The Bar Galerie inside the hotel offers a large choice of cocktails, in an amazing decor, and and a terrace. Umbert ends this fantastic day full of emotion, beauty, and history.
Etiquette: do not turn your head back to finish a cocktail; it’s very incorrect.
France Tourisme offers to pick you up at your hotel in Paris and bring you back to it, after visiting the Palace of Versailles with a certified guide for the castle, and audio guide for the gardens. Lunch in the park is included in the price. On Saturdays and Sundays, you can attend the show of Les Grandes Eaux Musicales, and Tuesdays and Fridays the one at the Musical Gardens.
Budget: 162,50 euros based on 4 people. 200 euros for the certified guide. 10 euros for the show of water or gardens.
Etiquette: be punctual because the program is intense. In case of delay think to call to find a solution.
- Brunch 11 am
Umbert knows that brunch at the Club will be a total surprise! A brunch in front of the Eiffel Tower, on a boat.
This image of Paris will remain in memory and on the photos long after the end of this weekend. A cruise is offered if you wish after brunch.
Budget: 55 euros.
Etiquette: the elbows must remain close to the body while eating; they must never be lifted.
- City tour 1 pm
To enjoy the sun and if you have not chosen the cruise, Umbert offers the discovery of a district of Paris, hair in the wind, in Citroën Méhari. This French car is an emblem of 1968 and the star of the famous French movie “The policeman of Saint-Tropez.” Umbert advise Tour in Paris and the program “circuit at your leisure,” which allows you to choose your circuit with the driver. The departure is Place de la Concorde.
Budget: “circuit at your leisure”: 2 hours, 300 euros for 1 person, 150 euros per person for 2 people.
Etiquette: you can ask the driver to stop to take photos, and ask for details of the places visited. If the driver gives you satisfaction, plan a tip of 20 euros.
- High tea 4 pm
Many emotions after these discoveries of Paris and Versailles. Umbert wants to share with Camille a moment of calm for the tea-time. The Gabriel terrace of the Hotel de Crillon is the ideal place for a gourmet break in a mythical place. On July 7th a special brunch is proposed for Independence Day.
Budget: 90 euros.
Etiquette: to drink tea, take the cup alone without the saucer. To lift your finger while drinking is absolutely no longer necessary.
The cool stuff
In a garden of the center of Paris, Meeting the French introduces Umbert to pétanque. This bowling game was born in Provence, in the south of France. It is a popular game in France. The petanque is synonymous with high holidays, sun and friendship. The course lasts 1 h 30.
Budget: 20 euros.
Etiquette: the balls of petanque are massive, be attentive to your gestures, take your time, listen to the explanations to not hurt another player.
The concert option
July 5 and 6, 2019: The Peacock Society. This is the festival of electronic music. More than 40 artists on 4 stages to dance with the best electro music. It must be booked very early.
Budget: about 48 euros for 1 night
July 20 and 21, 2019: Lollapalooza Festival. Considered the biggest festival in the world, it is in Paris with an explosive program for music lovers.
